Shapes on the Grid

Slide a shape 2 units right: every vertex gets x + 2, y stays

Loading...

About This Practice

A shape is decided by its vertices: move the vertices and the shape moves. Read the coordinates of each vertex of a rectangle or a triangle on the grid, predict where a vertex will land after sliding 2 units right, and watch the animation check it — translation changes only x, while y stays right where it was.

Place 3-4 vertices to build rectangles and triangles on the grid, tap a vertex to read its coordinates, then predict where it lands after sliding 2 right.

How to Play

  1. Look at the shape on the grid and meet vertices A, B, C (and D).
  2. Tap a vertex and read its coordinates below the grid.
  3. Take the challenge: where will the chosen vertex be after sliding 2 right?
  4. Watch the slide: every vertex gets x + 2 and keeps the same y.
  5. Switch shapes and take new rounds to try more cases.
