Fractions on the Number Line

Fractions are numbers too—they live on the number line

Loading...

About This Practice

Fractions, just like whole numbers, have an exact home on the number line. Split 0 to 1 into d equal parts and each part is 1/d: tap a tick to drop the marker, then press “Check”. Counting the intervals shows that the numerator is simply which tick you land on from 0.

Split the space from 0 to 1 into equal intervals and tap the right tick to place the target fraction where it belongs. Fractions are not just shading—like whole numbers, they have exact positions on the number line.

How to Play

  1. Read the target fraction: the denominator tells how many equal parts the line is split into.
  2. Count ticks from 0: land on the tick that matches the numerator.
  3. Tap that tick to place the marker and read its position.
  4. Press “Check” to verify; if wrong, count the intervals once more.
  5. Tap “New Problem” or switch difficulty for bigger denominators.
