About This Practice

Multiplying by 10 is more than "stick a zero on": every digit's place value grows ten times, which looks like each digit card sliding one place left on the chart. Dividing by 10 slides them right. Empty places get zeros and the decimal point follows the digits — 34÷10=3.4 and 3.4×10=34 slide right back to each other.
