Picture Graphs

Each picture stands for a count

About This Practice

A picture graph counts with pictures: each picture stands for a number of units, and the legend says exactly how many. Read the data table at the top, then tap the pictures row by row until each row matches its data. In Challenge one picture stands for 2 students, so half pictures appear — the legend keeps you straight.

Build a picture graph from a class survey: read the data table, then tap pictures to fill each row to the right count. In challenge mode each picture stands for 2, and you will meet half pictures too.

How to Play

  1. Read the data table on top: how many students in each category?
  2. Check the legend: how much does one picture stand for?
  3. Tap the pictures in each row up to the right count; the running total shows on the right.
  4. Press “Check” for per-row ✓/✗ marks; fix red rows against the data table.
  5. In Challenge, mind the half pictures: one tap gives half, another makes it full.
