Decimals on a Number Line

Between tenths there is more: each part hides 10 hundredths

Loading...

About This Practice

Between 0 and 1 live more than fractions—there are decimals too: 0.1, 0.2, … the tenths; and between them, one hundred slices give 0.01, 0.02, … the hundredths. Look closely with the magnifier and you can find any decimal's home.

Zoom into the 0–1 line: tenths first, then a magnifier opens one part into hundredths. Tap ticks to place markers and hit random targets like 0.43.

How to Play

  1. Read the target decimal, say 0.43.
  2. Tap the main line to pick a part—the magnifier opens it into 10 hundredth ticks.
  3. Tap a zoomed tick to place the marker and read its decimal.
  4. Tap Check; if you miss, a hint tells you which way to go.
  5. Use the arrows to explore other parts, then tap New Target.
