Dividing Multi-digit by One-digit

Divide from the highest place, write each quotient digit above its place, and bring the remainder down

About This Practice

The long-division rule: start at the highest place, and write each quotient digit above the place it belongs to. Each step: divide the current number, write the quotient, subtract, then bring the next digit down to continue. Every puzzle here is built as quotient × divisor, so it always divides exactly at the end — yet intermediate remainders are common, and you will watch each one get carried down and resolved digit by digit.

Watch long division unfold step by step: check whether the highest place is enough to divide, write the quotient above it, then bring the remainder down to join the next digit and keep dividing until the ones place finishes it off. Highlights show exactly which digit is being divided at every step.

How to Play

  1. Look at the highest place of the dividend: is it enough to divide? Where does the quotient digit go?
  2. Tap "Next step": find the first quotient digit and see where the product and remainder are written.
  3. Bring the remainder down, join it with the next digit, and keep dividing.
  4. Follow the highlights to watch the quotient appear one digit at a time, aligned to its place.
  5. Finish at the ones place with no remainder, read the whole quotient, then tap "New Round".
