What Division Means

Division splits a total into equal parts

About This Practice

Division at its most intuitive is fair sharing. Tap “Deal One” and candies drop one by one onto plate after plate until none are left. Every plate ends with the same amount and the division equation appears — connecting the action of sharing with the arithmetic of dividing.

Deal candies onto plates one by one so every plate gets the same amount. Count each plate at the end, and you have written a division equation.

How to Play

  1. Read the problem: how many candies, and how many plates to share among?
  2. Tap “Deal One” and watch candies land on the plates in turn.
  3. Keep an eye on the plates as you deal: they always hold equal amounts.
  4. When the tray is empty, read the equation: total ÷ plates = candies per plate.
  5. Tap “New Problem” or switch difficulty and share again.
